Father and 12-year-old Son Threatened in Queensland Servo Car Jacking
Story by NBN News.
A MAN is in custody over the alleged car-jacking of a father and his young son at a service station in Queensland’s Lockyer Valley.
Shane Grundy and his son were approached by two armed men at the service station on the Warrego Highway at Helidon.
The men threatened the father with a chisel as the 12-year-old boy was sitting in the passenger seat, and then stole the vehicle and fled the scene.
“They come across at me and one had a chisel and said ‘give me your keys’ and as I went around to the other side of the car to get my son out, that’s when the other bloke pulled a gun at me,” Mr Grundy told 9NEWS.
“A car can be replaced, I can’t replace my son.”
Police tried to intercept the allegedly stolen car travelling west on Klinger Road in Redcliffe, but it sped off.
Tyre spokes were deployed in Scarborough and stopped the car.
A 20-year-old Caboolture man was then arrested and charged with armed robbery, attempted armed robbery, unlawful use of a motor vehicle and stealing.
